The paper that will be presented was published last year in the book Eastern Practices and Individuation, edited by Leslie Stein and published by Chiron. The paper addresses Buddhist practice and ideas in the framework of a Jungian model of individuation.

Biography: Polly Young-Eisendrath, Ph.D., is a Jungian analyst, psychologist, and psychotherapist in private practice. She is Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont and the founder and director of the Institute for Dialogue Therapy. She is past president of the Vermont Association for Psychoanalytic Studies and a founding member of the Vermont Institute for the Psychotherapies. Polly hosts a popular podcast “Enemies: From War to Wisdom” which brings fresh insights into human hostilities and what to do about them at home, at work and in the world. Her websites are (which is a free app) and Polly has published 19 books (translated into more than 20 languages now) and many chapters and papers. Polly is a life-long practitioner of Zen Buddhism and a Mindfulness teacher.
